ABOUT
The EERI-UTM team is a group of dedicated architecture and engineering students from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), passionate about seismic safety and engineering. We are gearing up to participate in the EERI Seismic Design Competition 2024 in Seattle, where we will compete against teams from around the globe. Our team is supervised by two experienced and qualified faculty members from UTM: Ts. Dr. Mohd Nur Asmawisham bin Alel and Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Ramli.
Our goal is to design a model that can withstand seismic activities, showcasing our skills and contributing to the advancement of seismic engineering. We are the only team representing Malaysia in this competition, and we’re excited to bring our unique perspective to the global stage

COMPETITION
1. Sample of Physical Model to be tested
The Seismic Design Competition (SDC), hosted by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), challenges civil engineering students to create cost-effective, earthquake-resistant frame buildings using balsa wood. Models are tested on shaking tables and evaluated for performance and design. The SDC fosters innovation and hands-on learning in earthquake engineering.
